Jhansi Cantonment Board (JCB) is an autonomous body under Govt of India, Ministry of Defence. It is a Category-II Cantonment divided in 7 wards. JCB is having 14 members including Ex-officio President Cantonment Board (PCB), 7 Members elected by the general public of 7 wards, 2 Ex-officio members, 2 members nominated by the PCB, one member nominated by the District Magistrate and Chief Executive Officer as Member-Secretary.

Jhansi Cantonment Board is situated in the historic city of Jhansi lies in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. The Cantonment Board was established in the year 1842 and is one of the oldest Cantonments of the country. As per 2011 census, total population of Jhansi Cantonment is 28343.

Jhansi Cantonment Board is an ISO 9001:2015 certified Cantonment Board for providing amenities such as Health, Sanitation, Education, Water Supply, and various types of civic services to the resident of Jhansi Cantonment. JCB is continously progressing towards conversion of Jhansi Cantonment into Smart Cantonment. JCB has installed iron grills on boundary walls of parks, food court and other compound walls of Cantt Fund Buildings. All the roads placed under the management of Cantonment Board are in very good condition. Proper road marking with thermo-plastic paint, provision of cat-eye, speed breakers, delineators and road safety devices has been provided. For traffic management requisite road dividers have been made. Routine repairing and maintenance of roads is being carried out. Proper footpath is provided along the road side.
   

Jhansi Cantonment Board started the project for laying of underground sewer line and construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of 3.0 MLD capacity. Jhansi Cantonment Board has also started the Solid Waste Management System.

As a social welfare measure, a night shelter "Rain Basera" has been constructed by the Board for homeless persons. Proper ramps have been provided on footpaths, hospital, schools, office and parks to make the institutions disabled friendly. Public group latrines have also been made disabled friendly.

Jhansi Cantonment is declared is ODF (Open Defecation Free). There are 30 group latrines with 255 seats are available in entire Cantonment. Bio-toilets are also installed at various places.

Jhansi Cantonment Board own a very good water supply system. The clean and treated potable water is supplied from 5 overhead tanks in the area. 110 hand pumps are also installed where water supply pipelines do not exist. Two new CWR’s of 150 KL and 100 KL are constructed in Lalkurti and Topkhana Bazar.
   

Jhansi Cantonment Board runs three Primary Schools at Sadar Bazar, Topkhana Bazar and Lalkurti Bazar out of which one is English Medium school, one Junior High School at Sadar Bazar and one extension branch of Lalkurti School at Jeevan Shah area. Construction of a new school building is in progress in place of an old dilapidated school to start an intermediate college. Smart classes have being introduced in all the schools.

Jhansi Cantonment Board also started a Vocational Training Institute in the year 2010 to cater Professional and Vocational education to the residents specially unemployed youth of the Jhansi Cantonment and nearby areas.

The centre for differently abled children 'Panchhi' was set up and opened on 28th April 2015 by Jhansi Cantonment Board. The centre is equipped with special learning aids and qualified teachers for special children.
